My name is Oana and I am a caterer. But my story didn’t start here…
I am from a beautiful country in South East Europe, where people put value on tradition, family, nature and a
good healthy food. where life is sweeter, by smiling, meeting with friends and family on a hot summer day for a
barbecue and a glass of good wine.
It’s the values my parents thought me and in turn I try to inspire the same values in my kids.
My love working with products from nature started from my childhood but I didn’t realize it until i was an adult.
What happened, you might ask…well life happened…
I went to school… learned… became a forest engineer, staying and working still close to nature . For me
nothing can beat the fresh, cool, crisp forest air. It’s where my soul lies within. I got married to my wonderful
husband , have 2 beautiful, smart kids…but still confused because i felt something is still missing.
As a child I learned that good food starts with good natural grown products.
I still can remember the Sundays when I was going with my mum to the farmers market to buy fruits and
vegetables, meet and cheese… different seasons with different products. For me the smell is a memory and is a
guide for knowing and choosing my raw ingredients.
As a chef in the kitchen sometimes inspiration is hard to find but when I look deep inside I always go back to
the market I visited every weekend with my mum in different season. I remember the smell of each ripe, juicy
fruits or vegetable. I close my eyes and I can feel again the sweet smell of strawberries invading the market in
spring, the tomatoes , in summer , the juicy watermelons , the grapes and plums in autumn. Different flowers as
freesias, tulips or the harbingers of autumn the chrysanthemums sold by old ladies adds harmony to the smells
in the market. It was a wonderful childhood. cooking beside my mum, making all kinds of preserved food for
winter, fermenting, pickling , jamming. All this was missing in my adult life and then I realized that I could
make this a career path for me doing what I love dearly. With the realisation of this I enrol to study again this
time straight to the school for culinary arts, to become a caterer.
This blog is very close to my heart , it’s my way of expressing and sharing my deep passion for food and nature.
Through working with different ingredients and experimenting with new once.
So with a joyful heart I welcome you, to a world where you can cook , learn , have fun and explore with me.
To support my work you are more than welcome to share the recipes and the ideas from this blog. And together
