I love baking bread, any kind of bread but focaccia is one of my favourite to make. Anyone can bake a focaccia , it so easy. It has a crispy crust and a chewy inside and the toppings make the bread different from other bread recipe and it gives a different taste.
Ingredients
- 500 g bread flour
- 7 g yeast
- 350 ml lukewarm water
- Salt
- Olive oil
Ingredients for toppings
- Sun dried tomatoes
- Green olives
- 3 Cloves of garlic
- Fresh oregano
- Sea salt flakes
Methods
- In a standing mixer bowl add the flour, dried yeast, salt, water, and the oil. Mix until everything is well combined, and the foccacia dough is formed.
- Mix for about 5 minutes until the dough is elastic, soft and it is not sticking to the sides of the bowl.
- Place the dough in the oiled bowl and let it rest and proof for about 2 hours or until it is doubled in size.
- Line a tray with baking paper and pour the dough. With the help of your hands level the dough in the tray.
- Let proof for about 30 minutes.
- Drizzle olive oil across the surface of the dough and sprinkle sea salt flakes .Use your fingers to gently push the dough inside to form little holes in the dough.
- Use your choice of toppings and carefully push them in the dough.
- Bake for 30 -35 minutes at 180 Celsius.
