Dauphinoise Potatoes

Dauphinoise potatoes is a classic french dish made with sliced potatoes covered in a rich sauce made from cream and cheese, infused with garlic and fresh thyme.Try it and see how easy it is to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 500 ml double cream
  • 150 g mix of  white cheese and parmesan
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • Salt and pepper
  • Fresh thyme

Methods:

  • Start by peeling and cutting on mandolin the potatoes. The slices have a thickness of 3-4 mm.
  • Add the double cream to a pot, season with salt, pepper and add garlic, the sliced potatoes and fresh thyme.
  • Let it cook for 15 minutes on medium heat.
  • Take the potatoes slices and place them in a tray . In the remaining sauce add grated cheese and let it melt over medium to low heat.
  • When the cheese has melted add the sauce over the potatoes making sure the slices are evenly covered with the sauce.
  • Add grated cheese over the top. I used a mix of white cheese and Parmesan.
  • Roast in the oven at 180 Celsius for 30 -35 minutes , until the potatoes are soft .
  • Serve warm as garnish for meat or you can serve it with a simple green salad.
