Scotch eggs

Scotch eggs

Scotch eggs are a beloved British dish that combines simplicity with rich flavours. The dish consists of hard or soft-boiled eggs wrapped in seasoned minced meat, then rolled in breadcrumbs and deep-fried until golden and crispy. It is often enjoyed as a snack or appetizer, warm or cold.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Fresh eggs
  • 700 g minced meat
  • 1 table spoon dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper

Methods:

  • Start the recipe by boiling the eggs. Cook the eggs 4 minutes for soft boiled eggs and 6 minutes for hard boiled eggs. The timing of the boiling differs pending on the size of the eggs, and the timing for this recipe is for large size eggs.
  • After boiling, transfer the eggs in a bowl with cold water to stop the cooking process, then carefully peel the eggs.
  • In another bowl, add the minced meat, to which we add mustard, salt and pepper, then mix until the condiments are well combined into the meat.
  • Divide the meat in 4 equal parts.
  • Place a piece of cling film or plastic wrap over your cutting board, and with the help of your fingers spread the meat on an even layer.
  • Place the egg on top of the spread meat and carefully wrap the meat over the egg making sure there is no cracks, and the egg is perfectly sealed in the meat.
  • Next step in our recipe is to bread the scotch eggs. Make sure to have 3 plates. One plate for flour, one for eggs and the last one for breadcrumbs.
  • Roll the scotch eggs in flour, then in the eggs and last in the bread crumbs.
  • Fry in a bath oil until the meat is done , for about 4 minutes.
  • Enjoy warm or cold!
