Lasagna

Lasagna is a classic Italian dish, celebrated for its layers of flavors and textures.This beloved dish has earned a place on tables worldwide, symbolizing comfort and togetherness. Whether prepared for a family gathering or a cozy dinner, lasagna remains a timeless favorite, celebrated for its warmth, richness, and the joy it brings to those who try its delicious layers.

Ingredients for the Ragu:

  • 2 red onions
  • 2 carrots
  • 3 stalk of celery
  • 900 g minced beef
  • 135 ml red wine
  • 600 ml passata ( tomato sauce)
  • 150 ml water
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 Bay leaves

Ingredients for the Bechamel sauce:

  • 80 g butter
  • 80 g flour
  • 700 ml milk

Also needed:

  • 200 g mozzarella
  • 150 g Parmesan
  •  Ready to bake lasagna sheets

Procedure:

  • Start the recipe by chopping all the vegetables for the Ragu sauce
  • Add the chopped vegetables in a pot on medium heat and gently fry until the onions are translucent.
  • Add the bay leaves and the minced meat, when the meat is cooked add red wine.
  • Let the wine reduce, add the passata, water and let everything simmer on low to medium heat for about 2 hours , for the flavors to develop in the sauce.
  • Next step in our recipe is to make the Bechamel sauce. Add the butter to a saucepan and let it melt, then add flour and with the help of a whisk mix until the flour is absorbing the butter.
  • Carefully add the milk in small portion and mix vigorously with the whisk to avoid the clumps in the sauce.
  • The final step in our recipe is to assemble the lasagna. Start with the Ragu sauce, the Béchamel sauce and then with the lasagna sheet.
  • Tear gently the mozzarella into small pieces and add in between layers.
  • The top layer must be finished with the Ragu sauce and the Bechamel sauce.
  • Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil and let it bake for 35-40 minutes in the oven.
  • Take the lasagna out, add pieces of mozzarella on top and grated parmesan then bake for another 10 minutes.
  • Serve warm!
