Cinnamon rolls

Cinnamon rolls

I love making this recipe because it is quick, delicious and your house will smell amazing. The cinnamon rolls are fluffy , light and sweet. Serve them cold or warm with a cup of coffee.

Ingredients for the dough :

  • 400 g flour
  • 150 ml milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 15 g yeast
  • A pinch of salt

Ingredients for filling:

  • 70 g butter
  • 70 g brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoon cinnamon powder

Ingredients cheese cream frosting:

  • 150 g cheese cream
  • 2 teaspoon icing sugar.

Methods:

  • Start by blooming the yeast in warm milk. This process is very important and it is a great way to see if the yeast is alive .Make sure the milk is not too hot otherwise the yeast will die. To activate the yeast the recommended temperature is between 45-48 Celsius while between 55 and 60 Celsius the yeast cells die.
  • In a mixing bowl , over the flour add the granulated sugar, eggs, a pinch of salt,  the activated yeast and the milk. At this stage you can choose to use a standing mixer but i enjoy kneading the dough with my hands.
  • Knead the dough until it has a smooth surface. Place the dough in a large bowl , lightly coat all the sides of the dough with oil and let it rest and rise until it doubles in size.
  • With the help of a rolling pin roll out the dough to a 1/2  a centimeter thickness.
  • Spread the butter on a even layer making sure you covered all the surface of the rolled dough. Very importan is to have the butter at room temperature to be easier to spread on the dough.
  • Our next ingredient is the brown sugar and the cinnamon which has to be spread on a even layer.
  • Roll the dough in a form of a log and cut equal pieces of rolls.
  • Place the rolls in a cake form or a baking pan. A trick to get fluffy and soft cinnamon rolls use 2 – 3 tablespoons of milk and pour over them before baking.
  • Bake the cinnamon rolls in a preheated oven for 25-30 minutes at 175 Celsius.
  • The last step in our recipe is to make the frosting by mixing the cheese cream with the icing sugar.
  • Coat the warm cinnamon rolls with the frosting.
  • Serve with a cup of coffee.
