Ingredients:
- 1 kg Ham
- 1 Leek
- 2 Carrots
- 1 Apple
- 1 Onion
- Pepper corns ( about 10)
- Salt
- Bouquet garni( Rosemary, Thyme, Bay leafs
Ingredients for the glaze:
- 1/2 Finely chopped onion
- Juice and zest of 1 orange
- 100 g brown sugar
- 115 g Dijon mustard
- 120 g honey
Procedure:
- Add water to a pot and bring it to the simmering point , then add the ham and all the vegetables, apple, pepper corns, salt and the bouquet garni.
- Let everything boil for 20 minutes.
- In the meantime , start making the glaze.
- In a saucepan add juice and the zest of an orange, then add the finely chopped onion, brown sugar, Dijon mustard and honey.
- Let everything simmer and thicken then let it cool down . The sauce will thicken more , when it cools down.
- After the ham has boiled, place it in a tray, then with the help of a silicon brush , glaze the ham , with an even layer, then place it in the preheated oven for 10 minutes at 170 Celsius.
- After the 10 minutes , take the ham out and glaze it again with an even layer, then place it again in the oven for another 10 minutes at 170 Celsius. Repeat the process one more time. This steps help the ham get a glossy, shiny glaze.
- Cut the ham while is hot and pair it with your favourite side dish.
